In 2008, Kattya Torres founded Denim Surgeon, building a reputation for precision tailoring, restoration, and custom denim work. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, she has become one of New York City’s most sought-after denim specialists. Known for blending craftsmanship with technical expertise and a deep respect for the construction of every garment, her business quickly blossomed far beyond her original dream. Guided by her engineering background, Kattya approaches each piece with structural insight, and her philosophy remains simple yet powerful: “Pretty much anything can be fixed!”

In 2019, she acquired Denim Therapy, another leading online denim repair service, and merged it with Denim Surgeon to create a one-stop hub for advanced denim tailoring, repair, and customization. Carrying forward the tailoring legacy of her father, master tailor Oscar Lopez, Kattya now partners with her daughter Atheena, uniting three generations of expertise. Together they are creating a tailoring experience for everyone, bridging custom high-quality suits, dresses, and denim into one family-driven tradition.
